FUNNY AND OTHER CARS

Random photos of some of the other 500 cars that made the 50th March Meet a huge success.

The Beach City Chevrolet tribute car of the Estrus bunch was a real fan favorite.

Big show FC shoe and all around nice guy Jack Beckman was out to have some fun and take a lap in the Time Traveler flopper. After it failed to qualify, Beckman ran a nice 6.07 at 236 on a test run Sunday.

Terry Capp didn't have his best weekend in the Ron Hodgson owned, Roland Leong tuned Pacemaker/Bubble Up car. Normally a heavy hitter, the Canadian flopper had trouble in qualifying and lost in round one of the 'B' show.

Claude Lavoie A-Fuel

The Code Red car driven by Lee Paul Jennings was in the hunt until a round two loss to "Romo". Seems they had problems with the body mounts after the burnout and when fixed and lowered it half closed the fuel shut off. No fuel - not much at the hit.

Brian Darcy Jr Fuel

Gary Eickmann A-Fuel

Steve Romanazzi's Warrior

Mendy Fry had a good first outing in Gary Messenger's "Future Flash" qualifying #5 but losing in round one to Dennis La Charite.

Greg Uffins in Rich Howell's AA/FA made two exhibition runs in the Dale Pulde tuned monster but failed to go 1320 feet on either pass.

Dr. Kin Bates flying for the U.S. Air Force.

Rian Konno was willing but the Hot Wheels/Crazy Horse entry wasn't. The team experienced problems on all three qualifying attempts.

Dennis La Charite almost hung in too long in his 2nd round loss. Getting out of the groove and heading for the wall, injectors wide open, he somehow managed to not even scrape the headers - but it was CLOSE.

Lisa Lavoie A/Fuel

Leah Pruett made her first show at #16 in the Dickies Girl Mustang.

Steve Nichols traveled 3000 miles from Delaware to contest his Mill Road Boys Vega and just missed qualifying.

Chris Krabill won NFC 'B' in the Pedaler '78 Arrow.

Edmonton, Canada based Michael Grekul did an nice job shaking down the new (and beautify) Plueger & Gyger Mustang and then going to the runner-up spot in NFC 'B'.

Dave Rosenburg in Bruce Dyda's Surfers Paradise NE-1.

Mike Savage put the Speed Sport Barracuda in the #6 hole with a 6.127 at 235.66.

Jeff Utterback put the Pisano & Matsubara '73 Vega into the #3 spot with a 6.008 at 234.55 but lost in round one.

The Flathead Jack twin was out doing exhibition runs but with Jack Harris focused on his car Mike Floyd from Battleground Washington was in the seat. He's a school teacher and the son of flathead wizard Earl Floyd. Earl and Jack Coonrod restored the old NorthWind car last year. Earl drove the old North Wind car for the Slo-Pokes before Ed the "Ace". Mike ran back to back passes of 177.69 and 177.89 on Friday and Saturday.
They were the fastest speeds ever turned in by a flathead powered car, not bad for some 60 year old motors...

Steve "Do It All" Gibbs enjoying some quite time before the circus starts.

No better way to close this page than with Mike Boyd in the Winged Express. Mike made 3 exhibition runs over the weekend and none were weak sucks! A truly great show.
