THURSDAY - TOP FUEL SESSION TWO

For whatever reason (I wasn't there) the powers to be added an impromptu 2nd Thursday nitro qualifying session. That said, there were a few cars who chose to take advantage of the free shot. Leading off was Jim Young and Joey Haas.

Both cars had issues and did not improve.

Out next taking his first shot at the track was Roger "Radar" Lechtenberg from Cedar Falls Iowa, in Mark Lorance's 'Nitro Bandit". This is the ex-Art Dromgoole "Back Yard Guys" car. What was a nice looking car is now "sporting" a new cage built for Lorance that looks like it was ripped from a funny car (Lorance must be a BIG guy). Tyler Hilton was in the right lane.

Hilton improved on his Q1 6.33 while Lechtenberg coasted to a 11.199.

Sorokin jumped into the #3 spot with a 5.776 at 207.18 while Cullinan didn't improve from Q1.

Out next was Jerry Hangey who hails from Quakertown PA, for his first attempt. In the other lane was Julius Hughes.

Hughes went in, Hangey not so much.

FRIDAY - FUNNY CAR SESSION TWO

Apparently Jeff Arend was the only funny car that took advantage of the bonus Thursday session. No time to share.

THURSDAY - AA/FA SESSION ONE

Like funny car, the four AA/FA were invited and would run a Chicago style eliminations. Leading off was "Rat Poison" of Dan Pettinato from Greenville, South Carolina.

When I can't attend a race I rely on Dragracecentral.com for times and for whatever reason, they did not include the AA/FA cars in their coverage. So, if someone can fill in the time blanks I'd appreciate it.

This pair was easy to ID, two of the best touring Altereds in the country. Randy Bradford and Brian Hope in the Rat Trap.
