BOAT RACERS REUNION,
JUNE 11-12, 2005, AT THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY FAIRPLEX (FAIRGROUNDS),
POMONA, CALIFORNIA.
PRESENTED BY THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
MARINE ASSOCIATION BOAT SHOW, JUNE 9-12, 2005
The SCMA has invited the Boat
Racers Reunion Committee to return in 2005 to be a part of their
Southern California Marine Association's Boat Show at the Los
Angeles County Fairplex (Fairgrounds), in Pomona, California.
The date will be June 11-12, 2005. This will be a Boat Racers
Reunion with all the old vintage race boats that we can find,
and then ANOTHER Boat Show with the brand new designs from famous
modern boat building companies.
The Reunion and Awards ceremonies
will take place on Sunday, June 12, 2005, at 1 P.M., on the Redwood
Avenue site where we had our reunion last year. Those wishing
to display their boats will be issued exhibitor's badges, not
passes, so you must tell us in advance if you are planning to
bring a boat to display and who is coming with you. If you wish
to attend the four day SCMA Boat Show, contact the committee
and let them know, otherwise the MAIN day for us will be on SUNDAY,
June 12, 2005. All vintage race boats are welcome to come and
be displayed. SCMA and the L.A. County Fairplex have 24 hour
security behind locked gates.
There is NO CHARGE to attend
the Reunion, but parking and food are NOT included. The FREE
tickets to the SCMA Boat Show will be provided to the reunion
attendees on request. Contact Richard Parks for the passes and
he will mail them to you, or pick them up at the reunion. Parking
will be in the Fairplex's White Avenue parking lot, with additional
parking in the Sheraton Hotel parking lot. Food can be purchased
at food kiosks and stands throughout the complex during the Boat
Show, and is varied, delicious and reasonably priced.
You are encouraged to bring displays,
pop-up tents, folding chairs, and anything else that will add
to your comfort and make your day a fun filled one with friends
and fellow boat racers. At 1 P.M. on SUNDAY, JUNE 12, we will
be honoring the following for their many contributions to boat
racing:
RUSTY BIESEMEYER, LANCE FAULKNER,
CARL G. THORNHILL, RICK WIMER, DON AND JIM ERMSHAR, EDDIE HILL,
BUD MEYER, THE EDELBROCK COMPANY, CHUCK PIERCE, GEORGE STRIEGEL,
BETTY COOK, ADELLE STONE, CHIP HANAUER, GAR WOOD and RICK FOWLER.
The SCMA Boat Show schedule for
each day varies. Thursday, June 9, the gates open at 12 noon,
and close at 8 P.M.
Friday, June 10, the gates open
at 12 noon and close at 9 P.M. Saturday, June 11, the gates
open at 10 A.M. and close at 9 P.M. Sunday, June 12, the gates
open at 10 A.M., and close at 6 P.M. The Boat Show is located
in the buildings behind the Sheraton Hotel at the corner of White
and McKinley Avenues, on the L.A. County Fairplex grounds, in
the city of Pomona, not far from the junction of the 10 and 57
freeways.
The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports
Museum is open Wednesdays thru Sundays, 10 A.M. through 5 P.M.
They have a wide variety of cars and memorabilia on display
and a great gift shop.
The SCMA Boat Show has lots of
booths and food stands for your convenience, and the latest innovations
in modern boat designs. The Boat Racers Reunion will have many
of the old race boats that you raced against or rooted for, 50
years ago.
Pins, memorabilia, T-shirts and
other things will be available for sale.
