 #1202 - Don Cook's 1973 "Damn Yankee" Barracuda Funny
Car
This is the second installment
of "The Flopper's Series"... As they barnstormed across the country
from track to track, the "Floppers" were piloted by
the best in the business. From their fire burnouts to their ground-shaking
runs, Funny Car pilots risked it all every time their custom
fiberglass body lowered over them as they sat between monster
racing slicks. The "Floppers" capture the free spirit
of these quarter-mile warriors and their magnificent nitro-burning
machines.
"The Floppers"
Thirteen-Twenty's
1/24th scale series of nostalgic Funny Cars
have many of
the same features found on "The Fuelers" series, including
cloth seat belts, rubber fuel and oil lines, ignition wires,
soft tires. The diecast body is removable to show the detailed
diecast chassis or can be displayed in the up position with the
vintage style prop bar. Tooling also includes three different
styles of front and rear wheels (see below), multiple injector
and motor combinations.
This colorful
"Flopper", owned by Don Cook & Myrna Cook and driven
by two of the great Funny Car pilots ever to go down the quarter-mile.
Ron O'Donnell and Pat Foster both drove this patriotic entry
during their careers. The "Stars & Stripes" paint
scheme has remained a favorite to all who saw this beautiful
machine.
