Built in 1964 by legendary engine
builder Keith Black, painted blue metallic by Joe Anderson, it
debuted at the famous Lion's Drag Strip with Leong at the wheel.
After crashing on his first pass, Don Prudhomme was brought on
the team as the new driver and the car became one of the most
famous in drag racing history.
Leong and Prudhomme won the NHRA
Winternationals in 1965, and went on tour winning almost every
race they entered, including the US Nationals at Indy.
In 1966 Mike Snively drove the
Hawaiian to victory AGAIN at the NHRA Winternationals and the
US Nationals.... the two biggest races of the year, won two years
in a row by two different drivers in the same car... a record
yet to be duplicated!
