One of the most
beautiful dragsters of the early 70's was the Keeling & Clayton
fueler that was the last car to have a Kenny Ellis tail-piece
body with the parachute tucked away. Tom Hanna did the nose which
was added about later. The first race with the nose was the 1970
Supernationals which the Charger won. The car also got the Best
Appearing Car award. Among other trick deals, the car had a unique
single wheel under the body to act as a wheelie bar. Driven by
Norm Wilcox, Steve Carbone and most noteably, Rick Ramsey the
car was a terror on the West Coast and was among the most photographed
diggers of all time.
The Keeling & Clayton dragster
includes such details as: - Aerodynamic die-cast
and tampo-printed tail piece body - 204-inch wheelbase design
- Removable upper body panel exposes detailed interior - - 392 hemi engine that's fully wired with ignition
wires and flexible fuel lines - Hollow simulated
Goodyear slicks on five spoke Halibrand mag wheels -
Detailed tubular framework and fuel tank detail -
Fabric seat belts and shoulder harness with photoetched buckles - Color scheme detailed from actual vintage racing
pictures and reference data from Jerry Clayton.
