Drag racing fans will
be itching to get their hands on a brand-new book featuring some
of the most famous drag racing cars of all time -- cars that
are the key attractions at one of motorsports greatest collections, the Don
Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Ocala, Florida. The Garlits
Collection: Drag Racing's Landmark Machines, by Mike
Mueller, will be available in August 2004.
Garlits is one of the most prolific
record setters and innovators ever to blast the quarter mile,
and the cars he has chosen to display in his museum illustrate
the sport's history like no other collection does. In this book,
author Mike Mueller takes an in-depth look at the cream of the
crop, the most significant cars in Big Daddy's museum, and probably
the most significant cars in all of drag racing.
From primitive machines like
The Bug - so rough it'll tear your pants - to Garlits own Swamp
Rat 34 - a high-tech top fueler with thousands of horsepower
on tap, and everything in between. Funny cars, Pro/Stocks, Fuel
Coupes, roadsters, streamliners, Super Stocks, Gassers and more
- this book covers them all, with spectacular color photos of
the restored machines, right alongside vintage black-and-white
images from Garlits' own collection.
Mueller holds a bachelor's degree
in journalism from the University of Illinois and has worked
as an automotive journalist for many years, covering much racing
and racing history. He worked on the staff of Super Ford and
Mopar Muscle magazines from 1987 to 1991, and his articles
have also appeared in numerous other respected automotive publications.
He currently lives in Kennesaw, Georgia.
WDIFL is now accepting advance
orders for the exciting new Garlits Collection.
The 10 x 10, 192-page hardbound book crammed with close to 300
color and black & white photos can be ordered in advance
